  • Sanjaya Malakar: The Biggest Problem Facing America(n Idol)

For anyone who is an American Idol junkie, I'd just like to say that, after watching tonight's result show, I am utterly shocked.  Utterly.  Shocked.  And for those of you who don't watch this show, just know that this is the grossest mishap that the voters have ever made during the six-year tenure of this show.  Sanjaya's voice is to American Idol as Gigli was to the movie industry.  I don't know how he got so far into the competition, but it's fairly obvious that he's given up (his performance last night was basically him screaming and making little girls cry), especially since he even said something along the lines of "I know I'm not the best in this competition."

And when he wasn't even in the bottom two tonight, I basically freaked out.  In-sane.

In other news, the quad was littered with people today, mainly because the weather was flippin AWESOME!  There was pretty much everything out there....frisbees, baseballs, lacrosse, footballs, bags, combat club, instruments, books, sunbathers, soccer, and every other thing you can possibly imagine.

Needless to say, I think spring is finally here and in full force, and I'm loving every minute of it.

Except for the part where stupid Idol voters can kiss my ass.

    Peace, Love, and Sprite,

  • It's Been a Long, Cold, Lonely Winter

With the warmer weather finally setting in, I'm falling in love with my iPod all over again.

I say that with my breath held, because I'm very worried that our sneaky Central Illinois weather will soon shift back to what it's been for the past few months.  And if I have to go through one more day of walking to class in anything under 32 degrees, I just may lose it.

And I think that is all I have to say right now.  I must return to writing my plethora of papers.

    Peace, Love, and Scrubs,

    Shazzzzaaaaam!!

I haven't written on here in quite some time (that always seems to be the case), and I think I'm going to follow in the footsteps of the great Maeghan and compile a list of things on my mind:

~ I love Target.  Love, love, love it.  I was traveling down Orchard to return some clothes at Aeropostale, and decided to stop in at that semi-new Target by Woodman's.  Ah, how it turned into a spree so quickly.  What was intended to be a 10-minute stop for toothpaste turned into an hour-long expedition of the wonderful aisles that make up this wonderful store.  I managed to leave with these ridiculously cute shoes for only 11 bucks, the new issue of Cosmo, an oven mitt, batteries, and the toothpaste, of course.  But browsing through the rest of this store never bores me.  Hoooooray.

~ The new xanga setup when you sign on is kind of weird.  A tad.

~ The weather here is slightly loopy.  I was kind of in love with the outside world yesterday, but today is basically shitty.  Well, I take that back.  The temperature is up (which is great for me), but this rain is bringin me down.  I'll just keep living on yesterday and (im)patiently wait for spring to fully arrive.

~ My dog got a haircut, and she's thoroughly in love with this giant stuffed fish we have.  In related news, she's possibly one of the strangest creatures to ever grace this earth.

~ Speaking of haircuts, I was planning on cutting my hair really short sometime this week, but I'm beginning to have a change of heart.  I want to ultimately donate it to Locks of Love, but I think I may want to wait and let it grow out a little more, partially because I'm actually starting to like my long hair.  Eh, I'll get sick of it eventually.

~ I'm excited to soon go to Jamba Juice.

~ I bought new shoes today (in addition to the ones from Target).  My daily, walking around campus shoes have been slowly wearing down (I think I've had them for close to 2 1/2 years), and I've been halfway looking for new ones for a couple months.  I tried on some Kangaroos at DSW today, and they actually seemed to work for me.  I'm picky about my daily, walking around campus shoes, so hopefully these live up to their expectations.

Ok, I must depart.  The internet on my laptop is for some reason not picking up the wireless signal in our house, so I've been forced to use the family computer all week, which has resulted in me getting kicked off by the brothers multiple times.  Needless to say, Joe has to do some sort of homework thing.

    Farewell.

    Peace, Love, and The Office,

    Two Weeks...Whoooa

So I'm already two weeks in to the second semester of my junior year.  I swear, time is flying like crazy.  Classes have been going pretty well, but with the combination of those, Vidette, Guerrilla, and the research project, this is going to be one insane semester.  Let me provide you with my breakdown on the classes I have:

~ American Literature (1830-1870): I think I'm actually excited about this class.  The prof seems pretty cool, and being an English major and all, I kind of enjoy the whole literature part of it.  Plus, we're actually going to be READING Moby Dick, as opposed to watching the movie.  So that's pretty big.

~ Drama: Not what it sounds like; it's reading plays.  We're doing this whole LiveJournal thing, too, where we have to post on there ever-so-frequently, so I'm trying to get acquainted with that blogging forum.  Right now we're reading Oedipus, and man, I totally forgot how much he pisses me off.  He's such an arrogant prick.

~ Advanced Exposition: Basically, my writing class requirement.  So far, I've got no complaints, but I am kind of apprehensive about it all.  I've never done much writing outside of required pieces, so this might prove to be a challenge.  Plus, I'm not a big fan of writing on the spot, which is kind of important since we meet in a computer lab.  Oh well.

~ Hispanic Literature: Alright, so weirdest teacher EVER.  I don't even know what to think about him...and I have no idea how to describe him on here.  He's this little old guy who goes off on tons of incredibly random tangents about things that in no way, shape, or form pertain to Spanish literature.  We had a quiz on Thursday on readings that I did not understand at all, so that rocked.  But man, I don't even know what to think about this class.

~ Social Foundations of Education: Yeah, I'm definitely playing World of Warcraft for this class.  Soooo crazy!  I guess my prof wants to explore the social implications of a MMO game like World of Warcraft, so this class (which only meets once a week anyway) has special weeks dedicated to solely playing the game.  To me, it's hilarious.

So that's it for my classes.  I'm kind of excited about it all...oh! and if anyone's interested, my first column for the vidette will be in the paper on Monday.  No guarantees, but I'm hoping it turns out well....yoooowzaaa...

    Back to getting stuff done...

    Peace, Love, and Antigone,
    ~*Alice*~
